ATLANTA DELOITTE CONSULTING PROFESSIONALS AND THEIR GLOBAL COLLEAGUES PROVIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE TODAY IN MORE THAN 70 CITIES WORLDWIDE. Management Consultants use skills, technology and experience to promote change in their communities
ATLANTA, GA June 6 – Today, Deloitte Consulting professionals from the Atlanta office will spend the day conducting several construction and landscaping projects, while developing relationships with the children of the Carrie Steele-Pitts Home, a local orphanage. The firm’s Atlanta office employees, as part of an estimated 12,000 Deloitte Consulting employees in more than 70 cities around the world, are participating in community service projects ranging from working with the residents of an elderly housing center in Oslo, to teaching computer skills to children in Melbourne, to repairing the sea wall in Chichester, U.K.
IMPACT Day programs are planned in approximately 39 cities throughout North and South America, 23 cities in Europe, and 9 cities throughout Asia and Australia. The aim of these activities is to combine the management consulting firm’s experience and talented employees to stimulate learning, skill development and self-sufficiency in communities where Deloitte Consulting professionals live and work.
“This is Deloitte Consulting’s fifth Atlanta IMPACT Day. We are proud to continue our commitment to giving personal, direct support to our local communities through our IMPACT program”, said Jessica Blume, Atlanta office managing director of Deloitte Consulting. “Today, in dozens of countries, our professionals are using their training and skills to help improve their communities and the effects of their efforts will last throughout the year.”

Deloitte Consulting professionals from the Atlanta office will spend the day working hand in hand with the children of the Carrie Steele-Pitts Home to create children’s flower gardens for each of the site’s cottages build a nature trail and develop lasting relationships with the children of the home. Additionally, Deloitte Consulting’s practitioners will network the children’s computer lab and administrative offices.
Other IMPACT Day projects include:

Minneapolis, United States – At a nonprofit foundation, consultants will conduct an event for local elementary school children and parents around personal safety and well being of children, educate parents on maintaining the safety of their children, and gather children's critical statistics (current height, weight, DNA sample, and digital photo) for assistance in tracking missing children.

Sao Paulo, Brazil – Consultants in this Brazilian city will provide computer literacy training for employees of a day care facility for children with HIV-positive parents, as well as paint and landscape around the facility.

Oslo, Norway – assisting the Salvation Army in Norway at a housing center for the elderly, including taking residents for walks, cleaning the facility, and working in the garden.

Toronto, Canada – As just part of their community service, professionals will work at eight community centers. They will conduct mock interviews, help with writing resumes, and provide some training for new immigrants. The consultants will also beautify gardens and paint and decorate the senior citizens’ unit.

Basel and Zurich, Switzerland – In Basel and Zurich, Deloitte Consulting staff will clean an animal park and the surrounding protected forest preserve.

Wellington – IMPACT Day workers in New Zealand will assist at a project at Otaki Beach that includes installing plants on the beach’s sand dunes and estuary.
