Workers Begin to Beautify Landscape Areas Surrounding Reliant Stadium in Advance of Big Game
January 2 2004--
WHO: Dean Carpenter, founder and president of Houston Landscapes Unlimited, will be available for comment as his crews begin work on Houston’s most high-profile beautification project – the sprucing up of landscape areas surrounding Reliant Park prior to the big game.
WHAT: Houston Landscapes Unlimited will be planting new trees, new shrubs and new flowers, and installing a new irrigation system. The plantings will include eight East Platka hollies, 230 Indian hawthorns, 291 Plum Delight loropetalums, 14 dwarf Burfod hollies, 1,650 pots of Aztec Grass and 5,000 red, white and blue pansy plants. Houston Landscapes Unlimited crews already have overseeded the turf surrounding the stadium with rye grass to return the lawn to a dark green color.
WHERE: Landscaping work will be focused on each of the three main entryways to Reliant Park: the area at Kirby and McKee, the entrance at Kirby and Westridge, and the entrance at Holly Hall and Fannin.
WHEN: Photo and interview opportunities will start at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2004. Please call for an appointment to ensure availability.
WHY: There’s never a second chance at a first impression. With thousands of out-of-town visitors – including hundreds of broadcast and print media – descending upon Reliant Stadium in the coming weeks for the big game, Houston Landscapes Unlimited is making sure the world sees Houston at its best. As is the case with any property, the landscaping around Reliant Stadium will have a tremendous impact on our curb appeal.
